Missing HBO Now Features
HBO has great content, but the Apple TV app experience is frustrating. Here’s what it needs:
A Way to “Subscribe” to Shows
The Showtime app offer a Series Manager to let me subscribe to a show. HBO Now app needs this.
A Way to Add Previous Episodes to My Watchlist
Offer a way to add all epsiodes to my watchlist. I likely want to start a series at the beginning.
Display the Series Titles Rather Than Individual Episodes in the Watchlist
If you watch multiple shows, having your watchlist display all episodes creates a mess. Netflix shows just show titles in the queue, not individual episodes.
Visual Indicator of Viewed Episodes
When you finish an episode on Netflix, a check mark appears next to the completed episode. Hulu offers a blue dot to indicate that a show is unseen. I prefer Netflix’s system.
Viewer Profiles
Again, Netflix offers this option.
Badge to Indicate Unwatched Episodes
Hulu offers a badge to indicate the number of unwatched episodes. An option to just indicate that there are unwatched episodes would be best.
Display Air Dates for Timely, Newsy Shows
Real Time with Bill Maher Season 7, Episode 13 doesn’t mean anything to me. When did it air? Use the opposite logic for scripted shows — season and episode number is best.
Let Me Mark Episodes/Seasons as Seen/Unseen
If I’ve already seen all the latest episodes elsewhere, or don’t want to watch from the beginning of a season, let me mark all epsiodes as “seen.” Conversely, if I want to start from the beginning, let me mark the entire series or season as “unseen.”
Separate TV Show Watchlist from Movie Watchlist
When I sit down to watch TV, my first thought is “Episodes or a movie”? Viewer profiles could partially solve this issue.
Let Me Add “Extras” to Watchlist
For some reason, HBO Now disallows adding “extras” to the watchlist.
